Is your hairstyle important?
You bet it is! Your haircut and hairstyle is an extension of yourself,
it can project an image to the world that can say a lot about you,
who you are and what you're about. Your hairstyle can definitely affect
the way people perceive you, even subconsciously.
It can create opportunities for you or perhaps even take them away.
It can influence the way you feel about yourself, it can build up your confidence or destroy it. That's right; a bad hair day can really mean a
bad day. I know that it's a shame that our society judges so unfairly,
simply based on our physical appearance. But its part of human nature
and everybody does it, regardless to whether they care to admit it or not.
We size people up and label them within seconds.
As an example, last year I called up a local plumber from the yellow pages
to give us quote for some plumbing work we wanted done at the salon.
The guy that come to see us to assess the job, was wearing a heavy metal
band t-shirt with casual blue denim jeans.
Now, although this plumber was quite polite, give helpful suggestions and seemed to know what he was talking about. His physical appearance contradicted what I personally believed a professional plumber should look like. Therefore, I found myself instantly doubting whether he would be capable of doing a good job. Simply because he didn't meet the stereotype
of a plumber, my confidence in his abilities was compromised.
Hairdressers and other professional people in the fashion and beauty
industry understand this. They know how important the right look is
for clients and customers. I myself have built a career in hairdressing by
helping clients achieve the right style for them, for the right occasions.
Finding great hairdressers that can deliver can be half the battle.
